John G. Forrest, of the County of Clinton and State of Iowa being of sound mind and memory but not in good bodily health do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament as follows:
First – I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate.
Second – In the event that my beloved wife
Maria D. Forrest should survive me I give bequeath and device to her absolutely all the property and Estate of every kind and nature, real and personal or mixed of which I may die seised or possessed.  If she should not survive me or if we should perish in a common disaster then my property shall be disposed of under the laws of Iowa the same as if I had died intestate.
Third – I nominate my wife
Maria D. Forrest as sole executrix of my will and direct that she shall not be required to give any bond.  I authorize and empower her to sell at public or private sale and on such terms, and for such prices as she may think best all my real and personal Estate, or to retain it unsold until after administration of my Estate shall be closed, if it shall not be required to be sold for payment of debts, as she may think best.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of January A. D. 1887.

The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof January 15th 1887 signed published and declared as and for his last will and testament by the said John G. Forrest in presence of us, who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

  I,
William Kreim clerk of the District Court in and for said county do hereby certify that on this day at the April term A. D. 1887 of said court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date on the 8th day of July 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the late Will and Instrument in writing here unto annexed and bearing date on the 15th day of January 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last Will and Testament of the  real and personal estate of John G. Forrest late of said county deceased, and was by said court ordered to be recorded as such Will and Testament.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said court at my office in Clinton, in said county this 20th day of April A. D. 1887
