Last Will and Testament of Michael McDermott of Clinton County Iowa

Michael McDermott of the City of Clinton in the County of Clinton and State of Iowa being of the age of Seventy five years and being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say:
First I give and bequeath to my daughter the sum of Twenty dollars which said legacy I order and direct to be paid to the said
Mary Sheridan my daughter within one year after my decease.
Second I give and devise the following described property the same being real estate to wit Lot numbered twenty six {26} in Block numbered one {1} in Davis first addition to Clinton to my wife
Mary McDermott to be used and enjoyed by her during the term of her natural life.  And from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the same to my son John McDermott his heirs and assigns forever.
Third I give and bequeath all the rest and residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and chattels of what nature or kindsoever to my said wife
Mary McDermott whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament without bond hereby revoking all former wills made by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of April A. D. 1887.

Michael McDermott as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

William Kreim clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the Nov. Term A. D. 1887 of said Court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date in the 14th day of Apr. 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of Michael McDermott late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto at my hand and affixed the seal of the court at my office in Clinton in said County this 16th day of Nov. A. D. 1887.
