Calamus Iowa May the 5th 1887
Will of real and personal property
In the name of God Amen;
I
Peter Dalton of the town of Calamus in the County of Clinton and State of Iowa of the age of seventy years and being of sound mind do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say:
First – I give and bequeath to my wife
Mary all my personal effects from the proceeds of which my debts must be paid except one 3 year old Boy Colt to my son Michael and one cow to my daughter Margaret to my son Thomas I bequeath the sum ten dollars.
Second – To my son
John I also bequeath ten dols. To my son James the sum of ten dols. To my son Frances the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Cate the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Lizey the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Bridget the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Ann the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Julia the sum of ten dols. To my daughter Ellen the sum of ten dols. To my son Joseph I bequeath all my real estate as follows:  the west half of the North East quarter of sec. fifteen {15} town {81} eighty one containing eighty acres.  My said son Joseph at the age of 21 years shall pay or cause to be paid the amounts I devise in cash to all my above named children to my wife Mary I entrust the affairs of my place during her lifetime and after her death to my son Joseph and lastly I do appoint my wife Mary my sole executrix of this my last will.

The above instrument and consisting of two sheets was at the date thereof signed and declared by the said
Peter Dalton as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

William Kreim clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the September Term A. D. 1887 of said Court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date on the 5th day of May 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of Peter Dalton late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto at my hand and affixed the seal of the court at my office in Clinton in said County this 9th day of Dec. A. D. 1887.
