| In the name of God Amen. I Philip Gavin of Lyons Township in the County of Clinton and State of Iowa of lawful age and sound mind and memory wishing to arrange my worldly affairs do make ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner following after all my lawful debts are paid. I 1st. give devise to my son Martin Gavin the sum of two hundred dollars he having received already during my lifetime a great deal of property by way of advancement. 2nd. I give and devise to my son Patrick Gavin likewise the sum of two hundred dollars also having received considerable property by the way of advancement. 3rd. The legacies mentioned under 1 and 2 of this Will to be paid to the legatees by my executor hereinafter named within one year after my decease and without interest. 4th. All the rest of my property real as well as personal and wherever situated which I may own or be in any wise entitled to at the time of my decease I give devise and bequeath to my son Thomas Gavin. 5th. And lastly thereby make constitute and appoint my friend John Kain in Lyons sole executor of this my last will and testament and hereby direct him to expend for my funeral and for a monument on my grave a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this second day of June A. D. 1887. Residing at Lyons Iowa State of Iowa Clinton County I William Kreim clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this date at the September term A. D. 1887 of said Court the Will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date on the second day of June 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last Will and Testament of the real and personal estate of Philip Gavin late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such Will and Testament.
