WILL OF THOMAS LEWIS 1808

This is the last will and Testament of Thomas Lewis of the Purcas in the parish of Trelleck and county of Monmouth being of sound and disposing mind Memory and understanding thanks be to almighty god for the same. First I give and bequeath unto my friend the Reverend Ezra Powell of Trelleck the bed in which I now lie and also the clock, table and ironing box in the kitchen In trust and to for the sole benefit of my daughter Mary the wife of Thomas Watkins I give all the rest of my household goods furniture and effects in my now dwelling house and of which I may die before my son-in-law Henry Leak then I give and bequeath unto the said Ezra Powell the patch of ground at the Broad Stone the patch of ground at the top of the hill also the house and garden in which I now live with the patch of ground called the orchard adjoining the same to hold to him the said Ezra Powell his heirs executors and administrators in trust to permit my said daughter Mary Watkins and her assigns to have and enjoy the same and the rents and profits there of for and during the term of her natural life free from the control debts and engagements of her said husband Thomas Watkins and there with he is to have nothing to do with her receipt alone to be sufficient discharge for the sauce and from immediately after her death I give the same premises to my Grandson Thomas Watkins eldest son of my daughter Mary and to her heirs and assigns for ever subject and liable to the payment of ten pounds to my son Thomas Lewis his executors administrators or assignees within twelve months next after my decease I give and devise unto my son-in-law Henry Leak all that patch of ground called the upper patch adjoining to a patch of ground belonging to the said Henry Leak also the patch of ground called the rough patch adjoining to the first mentioned patch of ground devised to the said Henry Leak with the appurtenances to hold to the said Henry Leak his heirs and assigns for ever subject and liable to the payment of ten pounds by the said Henry Leak his heirs or assignees to my son Edward Lewis with in twelve months next after my decease if he shall be living at the time of my death but in case he shall not survive me then I desire that the said Henry Leak shall pay unto my said daughter Mary Watkins the sum of five pounds for her own use and disposal and her receipt alone shall be his sufficient discharge and I direct that all my live stock cattle and sheep which I may own at the time of my death may be disposed of by my executors herein after at the best price or prices that can be had and gotten for the same within twelve months next after my death three parts of the four of the produce of the said stock I give and bequeath unto the said Ezra Powell his executors administrators and assignees in trust for my said daughter Mary the wife of the said Thomas Watkins and that her receipt alone shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the same notwithstanding her cover? with her present husband or any future husband And the other fourth part I give and bequeath unto the said Henry Leak And lastly I appoint my son-in-law the said Henry Leak and the said Thomas Watkins the Younger joint executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time here fore made and do declare this to be my last will and testament In witness where of I have set my hand and seal the first day of October in the year of are lord one thousand eight hundred and five.
