In the 1860 census, Rachael is the mother of 10 children with no husband in the household. It says she has a farm worth $1600 and personal belonging of $600. Her son Heton is a house carpenter, Joseph is a Wagon maker and William is a farmer. This is also during the time of the civil war so maybe Percie has joined the fight as later his son Joseph is killed in Arkansas.

In 1880 Rachael and son John are living next door to Sallie Dickey who is now a widower. Living with her is Robert Clapper and Jessie Harris.
