I found these Pontifex burial online for Bardolph Cemetery, Macomb Township in McDonough County, Illinois. I am not sure of the family relationship of any of these people but list them as they appear to be a father, mother and two children. I then searched for Maude Holler in the census and found her and her family in Macomb, Illinois. Living with them was Claude Pontifex a boarder. He states that he was born in Illinois. His father was born in England and his mother in Illinois.
Further, there is a William Pontifex arriving in NY from Liverpool England and Queenstown Ireland in 1873 with a birth year of 1850. He is traveling alone and 23 yrs old, a gent on the ship "Italy".
I also found his WW1 draft registration. There he states that he is married To Etta Maude and they live in Bardolph, McDonough, Illinois working as a farmer His date of birth is September 26, 1880 and natural born. He is described as of medium height and build with light blue eyes and black hair. He registered for the draft on September 12, 1918 in Macomb, Illinois. |
