When August came to the US is unsure since different dates are given on different census.  Family records show that he was naturalized 3/12/1890. In the 1910 & 1920 census, George is listed as a farmer.  He is at home on Wilmott St. in West Deerfield, Lake Co, Illinois.  Living with him is his wife Kate and sons George and Robert. Alice is also in the household in 1910.  In 1920  George is working as a farm hand on a stock farm and Robert is working as a carpenter for a house contractor.
In the 1930 census for New Trier, Cook Co, Illinois, August was living with his daughter Alice and her family and husband Oral.
