In the 1900 census Edward and Elizabeth are living in Barada, Richardson, Nebraska.  Lizzie states that she has given birth to two children, Raymond and Esther.  They have been married for three years.  Also in the household is Edwards father Gustav born in Germany in Dec. 1826 and listed as a widow.  Gustav states that he has been in the US since 1846.  There are several Duerfeldt families living in close proximate that may be brothers or uncles.

In the 1920 and 1930 census Edward and his family, all born in Nebraska had moved to Spring Valley, Gregory, South Dakota.  Edward was farming with the assistance of his son.
